Az eseményről

We are pleased to announce that the University of Gloucestershire and Play, Learning Life will soon be launching a toolkit of resources and a training course that you will be able to access for free on www.pappusproject.eu

These resources and a training course that is coming soon are part of a current Erasmus funded project called Plants and Play Producing Universal Skills, or Pappus for short!  The aim of the project is  to encourage young people to engage in the natural world in a playful way by using botany and horticulture during outdoor activities that develop their skills and competencies.

Resources that will be freely available will be 15 common wild plants that have plant identification sheets to go with them alongside 15 activity sheets that offer springboard ideas for playful engagement with the plants.

In addition there are playful learning resources linked to these plants and others that are searchable across nine subject areas:- Creative arts, Design technology, Geography, History, Literacy, Maths, PSHE, Science and RE.  It is also possible to narrow this search to the following age groups 8-10, 9-11, 10-12, 11-13, 12-14.

We would like to invite school teachers, playworkers, youth workers, forest school staff and any aduts working with young people to come along to an event on Monday 8th November at 4pm at the Oxstalls Campus (or online at 4.30pm) to find out more. The event will be held in the fabulous brand new Business School, with a short hop across the river to our campfire outdoor learning area under the trees.

As well as learning about the project, we will be seeking people who would be willing to use the materials and give us some feedback on how they have found the resources and/ or take part in a free training.

Your attendance on the evening will see a crammed programme of information and activity to cover the following:

  1. An outdoor icebreaker by the campfire
  2. Overview of the Pappus Project
  3. Importance of Plants
  4. Activity session: Plant memories
  5. Introduction to the Pappus resources
  6. Next steps - how to get involved!

Book your free place here or let us know you can't attend and we can share the live link with you!
